Descripció assignatura
  This class provides an introduction to the art and science of starting a new entrepreneurial venture from idea generation, to business plan preparation, to growth and harvesting.
 
Objectius i Coneixements
  By the end of the course the students will develop skills in:
• Understanding the entrepreneurial process
• Identifying, developing, assessing, and pitching new ideas
o Identifying ideas for new ventures
o Developing your ability to present ideas in a concise, compelling way
o Assessing the potential of new business ideas to become business opportunities
• Developing an awareness of the possibilities and limitations of different business models
• Integrating your previous knowledge in the development of a business plan
• Enhancing your sensitivity and skills in discussing the financial needs of a new venture
• Identifying the challenges and opportunities of growth and harvesting

Metodologia
  A. Reading assignments: read text assignments prior to class and be prepared to discuss the text material, answering instructor questions orally with well-organized thoughts and ideas.
B. Class attendance: you are expected to attend each class period, be on time and stay the full class period or be counted absent. You are responsible for all course material missed due to absence. The instructor does not provide class notes for classes missed.
C. In addition to your individual preparation for the sessions, you will have the opportunity to develop your own Business Plan in teams, choosing both your team members and the ideas to work on. Each team will have the backing of your tutor who will provide guidance in the development of the Business Plan.

Criteris d'Avaluació
  Your final grade consists of four parts:
A. Class Attendance and Participation (40%)
B. Assignment “Startup” (10%)
C. Written business plan document (30%)
D. The final presentation of your business plan (20%)
